Meet the host, Rob Cantrell!

CCFF 2025 Host Rob Cantrell

Rob Cantrell is a Brooklyn based comedian, musician, actor, writer and filmmaker. Rob has acted in TV shows The Last OG (2020), The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (2022), Girls5eva (2023) and appears in a new indie horror feature film titled Traction Park Massacre (2025). He released a Stand-Up Album (12 tracks of Live jokes/storty-telling) titled Pure Uncut Joy (2018) and a 7 track music EP Caffeinated Dope Rhymes (2021).

As a Stand-Up, since 2005 Cantrell has headlined top comedy clubs, music venues and theaters: plus appeared at the SXSW, Bonnoroo and The New York Comedy Festival. He has also written for projects on Adult Swim, Comedy Central, Vice, High Times Magazine & The Howard Stern Show.

“ROLLED WITH CARE”

A short documentary exploring the niche world of professional joint rollers in New York City in 2024. The film dives into the culture and craft behind rolling, featuring interviews with paper brands, influencers, and seasoned rollers who share their stories, techniques, and visions for the future of the industry. We also hear from everyday New Yorkers and step inside a rolling class to capture the artistry, education, and evolving community around this unique profession.

“HEMPMAN VS. THE STATE”

Directed by Sampsa Huttunen / Finland

Hempman vs. the State is a story of a man who wants to cultivate cannabis openly and without asking for permissions. Authorities are not in favour of his endeavour, and although the fields are blooming, many obstacles stand in the way of the harvest. The film goes through a decade-long story of Finnish farmer Timo Haara’s quest to grow cannabis and its ramifications, showing us what civil disobedience and fighting against the system can do to a man.

It’s a journey of laughter, love, and rediscovery!

“PANIC SWITCH”

Stop motion animation of a standup performance telling the story of the speaker, a high school teacher, managing his class when a student finds a bag of weed. His class gets excited and speculates about who the drugs could belong to until the culprit returns to try and find the bag.

“RUNNING - Big Lou & ScrmmbledEggs”

In this high-energy, comedic music video, hip-hop duo Big Lou & ScrmmbledEggs are deep in a pizza-fueled hotbox session when they suddenly realize - they're late for their show at London Brewing Co-op! What follows is an epic, retro-infused footrace across the city, complete with '80s tracksuits, slice-sneaking pit stop, finger skateboarding detours, and hilarious near-wipeouts. As the sun sets, the two friends collide outside the venue, bursting through the doors just in time to hit the stage and bring the house down.
